Refund Policy

Last updated 7 September 2026 · Effective 7 September 2026

The short version. Try Porter free for 14 days; you are not charged until the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing. After that Porter bills monthly in advance. You can cancel at any time and keep the service until the end of the month you have paid for, but months already paid are not refunded — except where the law says otherwise, or where Porter failed and we could not put it right. There is no long contract to get out of.

1. The free trial is the risk-free part

Every new account gets 14 days free. A payment method is collected when you sign up but is not charged during the trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are never charged at all.

If you do nothing, the subscription starts automatically when the trial ends and the first monthly payment is taken that day. That is the moment worth putting in your calendar — it is the point after which the rest of this page applies.

2. Cancelling

Cancel yourself, at any time, from the Billing section of the dashboard. You do not have to email us, sit through a retention call, or give a reason.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Porter keeps working normally until then — your widget stays live, and nothing is switched off early as a penalty for leaving. You are not billed again after that.

3. Refunds

Porter is billed monthly in advance. Fees already paid are not refunded, and part-months are not pro-rated when you cancel. What you have paid for, you keep until it runs out.

There are two exceptions, and we mean them:

Refunds are returned to the card that paid, through Stripe. Once we have agreed one, expect it to appear within five to ten business days, depending on your bank — that last stretch is not in our control.

4. Changing plan

Plans are changed from the Billing section of the dashboard, which opens Stripe’s billing portal. Any adjustment to what you owe for the current month is calculated and shown there before you confirm, so you are not asked to agree to an amount you have not seen.

Going over your plan’s unit count never switches the service off. We will tell you in the dashboard and ask you to move up; we do not silently bill you for the overage or stop answering your renters.

5. Price changes

If we change prices, you get at least 30 days’ notice by email, and the new price applies from your next renewal. You can cancel before it takes effect and never pay the new rate.

6. Failed payments

If a payment fails we retry it, and after a grace period we suspend the service until the account is current. Suspension is not cancellation: your configuration and data are still there, and paying the outstanding amount brings it straight back.

7. Asking for a refund

Email [email protected] from the address on the account, and tell us what happened and which period it concerns. We will reply within one business day.

This page restates, in plainer words, what sections 4.2 to 4.4 of the Terms of Service already say. The terms are the agreement; if the two ever disagree, that is a mistake on this page and the terms govern. It is not legal advice, and the bracketed values above must be filled in before launch.
